The iconic Star Wars movies are full of classic scenes, and fans are hard-pressed to pick any one over another, it’s fair to say. However one that stuck long in the mind of one die-hard fanboy provided the illustrative muse for his very latest creative release. That scene was the one where Princess Leia asks R2D2 for help, that die-hard Star Wars fanboy-now-man, is none other than the acclaimed contemporary figurative artist, Craig Davison. The best-selling artist’s brand new Autumn 2014 release – pictured here and entitled, ‘I Need Your Help R2’ – sees Davison returning to tried and tested graphic methodology to update a seminal vista.
We say update, however for anyone familiar with Davison’s stunning back catalogue they’ll know we mean more a case of a nostalgic re-working, as best illustrated here in this hand-signed, limited edition giclee on canvas compositional piece. Davison again does what Davison does best, by visually imagining the thoughts going on inside of the minds of play-making kids, for the most part playing-out their childhood fantasies to a predominantly 1970s/1980s graphic backdrop.
