Arguably one of the most instantly recognisable vistas anywhere on the planet, London’s Thames-located skyline is illustratively awash here with architectural landmarks which stretch as far as the eye can see. From the more traditional and historical viewpoints (such as Tower Bridge) to bang up to date futuristic perspectives (a la the Gerkin and Shard) looking out over a commercial and culturally eclectic capital city, ‘High Spirits’ captures the mood as well as the physical stance of the UK’s crowning glory like few compositional pieces we’ve feasted our eager eyes on previously. Citing the revered likes of Impressionist icons like Monet and Cezanne as illustrative inspirations, the currently critically acclaimed contemporary urban landscape artist, Tom Butler also draws much inspiration from Singer Sargent, Kandinsky and the 1930's poster artist and typographer, A.M Cassandre; pictorially referencing their use of light and colour. This new (and gregariously crafted hand-signed and embellished giclee on board limited edition) Spring 2017 study, can be enquired about here and now.
