Recalling his first trip to Trewyn in Cornwall, and the up-and-coming contemporary sculpture art practitioner, Ed Rust waxes lyrical about spending time at the acclaimed sculpture artist, Barbara Hepworth’s St Ives home, studio and inspirational gardens. “I was totally amazed. It felt like this was what I’d wanted to do all my life but I’d kept putting it off.” Rust adds; “I just sat there in the garden and knew I had to make something, anything. I began sculpting outdoors - Hepworth inspired pieces.”
And so began Rust’s (now) professional preoccupation with creating sculptures that reach out, touch and indeed, connect with people; ensuring that each and every piece crafted from his favoured bronze offers some sort of individual meaning that’s essentially greater than the physicality of the figure itself. Nobody would argue that Rust hasn’t (again) achieved this when casting their gaze over his latest autumn 2017 three-dimensional bronze sculpture, entitled ‘Stepping Out’. Hand-monikered by Rust himself, this 195-run only piece can be viewed/enquired about/reserved with immediate effect as of now, simply by getting in touch with us today.
