We’ve all done it. Placed our hands together in lee of the light to create animal silhouettes, normally bunny ears. Celebrating this rites of passage stuff is acclaimed contemporary sculpture artist, Lorenzo Quinn, who, through his latest three-dimensional work might have been inspired by these traditional fun and games.
‘With You’ is a bronze cast sculpture standing some 16 inches in height, which sees a pair of *familiar hands considerately interlocked, thus creating what appears to be a startled bird. You can clearly make out two flapping wings, between which is a head and beak in graphical evidence.
Of course, you’re not paying for the silhouette, as ‘Without You’ is just about the styled and moulded hands, positioned on a spring-loaded platform, which in turn is secured to a flat plinth.
*Quinn typically frequents the descriptive powers of hands and fingers in his signature works
