‘Man walks dog on lead. Dog marginally bigger than owner’. Not normally the sort of headline to make you sit up and take note, admittedly, even by local newspaper standards of mundane-ness.
However if a certain Billy Connolly is behind it, then this puts an altogether different spin on things and demands our attention. Which is why we urge you to take a ganders at ‘Walkies’; Connolly’s latest compositional reveal which takes the ordinary and runs with it. Or walks as the case is here.
New contemporary figurative artist (and yes, stalwart of TV and the comedy circuit for many a moon), Connolly has created a series of limited edition prints available here, under the collective title of ‘Born on a Rainy Day’, comprising ‘Walkies’.
This black ink study sees a man walking his dog, a simple and as unpretentious as that. And was originated by Connolly by hand etching a lattice-work composition of vertical and horizontal lines in close proximity to one and another.
