Contemporary artist, Shazia’s Vida is living the loca. Although you might not be able to tell by the expression etched on her face. She has to be though, as what normal little girl sports a Kingfisher’s nest in her tousled locks?
Pigtails, plats and ringlets are more the norm, yet Vida’s luxurious long tresses could well house its own micro-climate and eco-system at this rate.
Obviously there’s a far greater depth to this delightfully strange and quirky composition than first meets the eye, and naturally everyone who gazes on Vida will translate the vision with differing meanings, both hidden and not so.
As enigmatic subject matter as we’ve come to expect from the artist, Vida is set amid a typical black backdrop, with the emphasis placed firmly upon the expressions that serve as the window to her soul and the mystique, method or indeed, madness of the bird’s nest coiffure.
