New original sketch by Caroline Shotton based on the fastest selling limited edition this year "We can be Heroes".
Catwoman: "I could give you more happiness than anyone in the world."
Batman: "How do you propose to do that?"
Catwoman: "By being your partner in life, I mean it's me and you against the world." Batman: "What about Robin?"
You see. Bruce Wayne never lost sight of the fact that Batman was ostensibly nothing without his crime-fighting side-kick and champion of green Lycra, Robin sharing his watch. The ‘Boy Wonder’ was equally all bro-manced up over the taller, older one with a thing for black rubber-wear. Awwww, sweet.
And it’s this comforting relationship that’s celebrated here in equally redoubtable contemporary artist, Caroline Shotton’s most recent illustrative reveal, which has effortlessly translated from comic book to TV to silver screen down the years. Albeit without Batty being in da pictorial frame. And Robin being visually channelled through a cow.
Batman: "That's one trouble with dual identities, Robin. Dual responsibilities."
But then it would be, wouldn’t it, as it’s a Shotton piece. The innovative artist who’s ensured that we all look at cows in a whole different light, courtesy of her typically humourous, slightly disarming, always edgy compositions that casts a cow in the lead role (s). Yet comedy is never at the expense of detail in a Shotton observation, and ‘Holy Cow Batman!’ isn’t going to break this mould.
Robin: "You can't get away from Batman that easy!"
Batman: "Easily."
Robin: "Easily."
Batman: "Good grammar is essential, Robin." Robin: "Thank you." Batman: "You're welcome."
