Presented here as a mounted giclee piece, 'Spot the Dog' is the latest pictorial incarnation by new contemporary animal artist, Hayley Goodhead.
Less a rubbish competition run by a local newspaper where the traditional blanked out football (mid match) is usurped by a missing dog (although not in that kind of way), ‘Spot the Dog’ comes from exciting new contemporary animal artist, Hayley Goodhead’s most recent canvas ensemble seen here.
And thankfully because the black and white spotty dog in visual question isn’t stood against a backdrop of snow means we don’t have to hazard a guess where the Dalmation is hiding out.
All of the harmless fun and games leads us to the piece itself, ‘Spot the Dog’, which as hinted at above is centered on a Dalmatian and a series of polka dots.
Goodhead explains the thought process behind this as being based on the current fashion trend for polka dot patterns in modern ladies' garb and interiors, which led the artist to the subject of Dalmatians. As you do.
The spots in the background obviously then connect with the dog, yet also subconsciously lead the viewer into the piece, hypnotically so if you stare at it too long, which isn’t advised.
