Presented here as a mounted giclee piece, 'Check You Out' is the latest pictorial incarnation by new contemporary animal artist, Hayley Goodhead.
Did you know that the majority of zebra’s stripes are vertical, just like a barcode? You probably did know, obviously, but just weren’t that consciously aware of the fact until we brought it to your attentions.
Which is exactly what exciting new contemporary animal artist, Hayley Goodhead does via her latest creative (and informative) pictorial reveal observed here. ‘Check You Out’ takes up from where ‘Spot the Dog’ left off, in terms of (visually) intentionally losing an animal within a certain, related background spread.
In ‘Spot the Dog’s’ case, it was a Dalmatian set amid a black and white polka dot background, whilst here it’s a black and white (vertical striped, remember) zebra straddling a giant barcode backdrop.
In both illustrative eventualities, the results are impactful, with ‘Check You Out’ offering an almost Pop Art style look and feel, as Goodhead playfully juxtaposes a sight more traditionally seen on the plains of Africa with a commercially omnipresent sign of the digital times in which we live.
Which in our book is pretty Warhol and Lichtenstein, and roundly applauded for affording us shades of such.
