Considering he’s only been painting professionally since 2007, Craig Davison’s meteoric rise to contemporary figurative art fame has been little less than astonishing by all accounts, and with the habitual manifestation of pieces of the illustrative magnitude of this, his brand new original release, it’s crystal clear that his reputation in this highly contested genre is set to soar even further.
Entitled, ’I Haven’t Got A Brain. Only Straw’, Davison again graphically references his a certain childhood (this time, his wife’s) by sharing with us a pictorial insight into what made her tick as a typical happy-go-lucky, adventure-seeking scallywag. Visually channelling one of the main characters in the iconic movie, The Wizard of Oz’, Davison’s wife was(in her mind and for the illustrative purposes of this brand new limited edition original composition) the hapless Scarecrow who Dorothy befriends at the outset of her magical journey.
