Describing his signature contemporary sculpture art studies as ‘pieces of theatre to get lost in’, and going on to suggest that visually they represent framed feelings, thoughts, imaginings and observations encountered in the world around us, inspiring contemporary sculpture artist, Nic Joly has just released his brand new Spring 2014 collection seen hereabouts. And in this instance we’re talking about his all-new offering from that current portfolio, entitled ‘Good Idea?’
Available as both a giclee on paper two-dimensional reveal AND a wall sculpture (limited to a trifling 95 and 90 editions, respectively on launch), this study encapsulates the small is beautiful adage. Or rather beauty arrives in small packages. As ever though, the actual subject matter will polarise opinion and potential upset some; seeing as essentially ‘Good Idea?’ is a representation of Christ on the cross, captured within the confines of a bulb. Feel free to add your own narrative of course.
