Paul Corfield provides us with yet another graphically tactile and pictorial absorbing composition in which we just want to leap right into as we bear witness to the brand new fruits of his illustrative labours. Perversely entitled, ‘Untitled Study Number 116’ (for reasons known to only the artist), this very latest Summer 2014 reveal by one of the UK’s most respected and collected contemporary landscape artists can’t help but grab your attentions in the best possible way.
Sighted within the frame of the original 8” x 8” piece the viewer is presented with a unique perspective gained from the top of a hill which itself overlooks a distant fields and a horizon-nearing hamlet in the yonder. However emphasis is placed on a tree in the foreground, and a perfectly weighted and coloured example at that which stands tall and proud in the onset of long shadows, which themselves hint at being cast by similar shaped trees nearby.
