A slight departure from Paul Corfield sees the award-winning contemporary landscape artist set up his easel a lot nearer a coastal plain than is the norm, as he illustratively looks back towards a cliff-face rather than across the boundary-less fields, forests and hills we’re more normally treated to.
However it’s a compositional departure we could quickly get used to as whilst the location/perspective may have temporarily altered, there’s no denying that Corfield’s natural gift for flooding the original framed canvas with breath-taking colours and visual approximations hasn’t been left behind in the short-term transfer of visual goods. Perversely entitled, ‘Untitled Study No. 130’, this reassuringly larger than life example of Corfield as her imperious graphic best is in the flesh, somewhat diminutive, yet the 8” x 8” scale DON’T leave anything to be desired, suffice to say.
