C’mon now, is it any wonder that this stunning 3D wall sculpture is entitled, ‘The Lowry Gallery?’ Never one to mask his deep-seated admiration of the iconic landscape artist who has inspired so many of the current crop of contemporary fine artists plying their trade today, the ever-popular John Wilson has emerged unscathed from his seasonal hibernation with this framed and signed limited edition for Autumn 2014.
For the most part, it is what it is, in as much as it’s an art gallery wedged to the gunnels with L.S Lowry’s famous works, albeit jutting out into the viewer’s face courtesy of its unique three-dimensional eventuality. But look a little closer and what do you see? Or more pertinently, WHO do you see admiring the art? That shadowy matchstick figure-inventing figure is of course Lowry himself, admiring his own seminal portraits. And why not?
