Inspired almost entirely from happening across an old black and white snapshot of a Glasgow canal, derelict but for the omnipresence of debris and driftwood, celebrated contemporary landscape and figurative artist of our times, Alexander Millar created this, his brand new Autumn 2014 release entitled, ‘Just How I Remember It’.
Truly charmed by just how enigmatic the canal still looked, despite its abandoned and un-loved public façade, Milllar set about crafting his own visual narrative, the result of which is observed here and available to purchase today in this limited edition, artist-signed canvas guise. Whilst the main pictorial cut and thrust centers on the canal itself, the urban waterway is nevertheless flanked by the approximation of what appear to be terraced houses and silhouettes of distant industrial architecture, to lend the evocative composition ever greater illustrative whimsy.
