Growing up in the midst of a tough, predominantly working class side of his Scottish industrial town, reflective contemporary landscape and figurative artist, Alexander Millar fondly recalls his formative years despite any family struggles he may have encountered in such environs. Indeed, in his latest pictorial release he visually embraces one of his favourite childhood pastimes which many of the rest of us can equally relate to, irrespective of our diverse backgrounds.
In Millar’s own words he remembers that at; “"Every break time we would charge to get as dirty and bedraggled as possible”, before adding, “Having something to climb was always a bonus we savoured, and our battle cries of “I’m the King of the Castle…You’re a dirty wee rascal!” could be heard for miles around!" And so say all of we in perfect unison we would wager. Taking his ‘King of the Castle’ mantra and illustratively running with it has subsequently resulted in this, Millar’s brand new Autumn 2014 release of the same name; seen (and available) here in limited edition canvas iteration, each piece bearing the hugely popular fine artist’s name.
