Affording his bespoke work that personal touch, inspiring contemporary figurative artist and very much creative-man-of-the-moment, Craig Alan speaks of how from his perspective he strives to make each new piece an intimate pictorial affair; made even more so when you learn that for the most part his compositional constructs are compiled from miniature renditions of his own family members and friends, alongside of other models. To Alan’s mind it’s all about the interactions between the tiny figures, which comprise the greater visually arresting picture we look out upon from an accepted distance as a viewer.
Brand new for Spring 2015 is this, ‘The Brunette’, which serves as Alan’s very latest collective piece and which clearly concentrates, illustratively on one of the greatest screen idols ever, Audrey Hepburn, adopting a typical pose. According to Alan we are ‘all part of something greater’ yet at the same time, ‘lesser than ourselves’, an exacting graphic point he strives to make in each of his new reveals. Available to pre-order as we write, this framed giclee on boxed canvas manifestation of his remarkable skillset is presented as an individually-signed, limited edition study on this occasion.
