1970s punk-pop band, Blondie knows all about this patience-tester. Although in fairness so do most of the population who have ever rung any call centre. ‘Hanging on the Telephone – 3D’ in this (far more) illustrative instance is of course more to do with the old school red phone box, L. S Lowry-esque pictorial overtures and sticky-outy graphic bits. Which pretty much describes a late-spec John Wilson wall sculpture to most contemporary fine art lovers out there.
To the uninitiated Wilson is the hugely popular and visually engaging modern art practitioner with a pleasingly recurrent habit of crafting humourous, compositionally-exceptional and somewhat melancholy wall sculptures with more than a hint of the old familiar about them. On this limited edition occasion (just 150 for those asking), this 39” x 19” study ticks all the relevant boxes (if you excuse the pun) and is available to enquire about/reserve with immediate effect.
