In popular culture it’s usually the cow who circumnavigates the moon, yet on this graphically revealing occasion the bovine has been replaced by a couple of equally athletic canines, whilst the moon itself hasn’t yet put in an appearance. Instead relying on the stars to do its (far from dirty) work of fable. But then ‘Leaping for Love’ is the creative brainchild of a revered contemporary landscape artist who doesn’t necessarily stick to fact within the visual constructs of his illustratively adept works of peerless fiction. Welcome to the inimitable Ryder’s brand new Spring 2016 pictorial unveiling, which is again nothing if not compositionally absorbing from every perspective.
This 24” squared giclee on canvas affair sees the aforementioned dogs literally, or rather, artistically, leaping for joy; framed by the encroaching night sky and a spectacle of trees and foliage as far as the eye. Both the weight and colouration of this enchanting study by one of the UK’s leading pioneers of his genre is something to behold, and we’d urge anyone even vaguely interested in hanging this from their walls to make their move ASAP to avoid serious disappointment.
