Few things illustratively conjure up that sense of idyllic summer days of yore spent in a carefree fashion engaged in a grand tour of one description or another, quite as much as the presence of an original Fiat 500. And if there’s one thing much-trumpeted new contemporary figurative artist, Nigel Mason knows a thing or two about, then it’s hot-footing it to Europe on a cultural odyssey. In his case hitch-hiking to Paris as an impressionable 20-year old to attend a Picasso retrospective exhibition at The Louvre. But that was then and this (giclee on canvas limited edition simply entitled, ‘Classic’) is very much of the pictorial here and now. And with a mere 195 individually-signed iterations forming this one-eighth part of his debut collection, then time is of the essence if you’re looking to jump aboard Mason’s bandwagon soon.
