As simple pleasures go, swinging from a lamppost can’t be bettered (aside from a rope swing constructed on a tree that is), but when woods are in scarce supply then you make the most of the immediate props you have available to you. ‘Swing’, the aptly-titled new giclee on canvas vignette created by Nigel Mason transports us back to all of our childhoods, yet the much-hyped contemporary figurative artist himself had more ambitious plans afoot when his own childhood turned to adolescence; which to cut a long story short involved hot-footing it – by any means possible – to Paris to attend a Picasso exhibition at The Louvre. But it wasn’t only Picasso who inspired an impressionable Mason, as illustratively evident in this Degas and Rembrandt-influenced hand-signed limited edition piece, which comprises part of Mason’s debut collection; and which we’re inviting enquiries about here and now.
