Dan Lane has just released his brand new Autumn 2016 sculpture and for those of you unfamiliar with the exciting contemporary 3D artist’s back catalogue, now really is the time to educate yourself in all things Lane. The Kent-based assemblage art exponent creates astonishing sculptures from all manner of mechanical, intricate and unusual components that he can lay his hands on, and for this reason alone is known in his genre circles as, ‘Mechanica’; courtesy of his habitually dark (yet at the same time, beautiful) takes on natural forms and functions by way of mechanical intervention. Essentially as industrial version of life. Here and now Lane is releasing his debut 2-piece limited edition collection, which graphically feature two striking skull sculptures. This particular 7” piece (which utilises a range of materials and mixed media so as to create the finished effect) is entitled, ‘The Saint’, and visually manifests as two hummingbirds paying close attention to the floral pollen emitting from the skull-attached flowers.
