An anonymous boy is perched atop the biggest heart you ever did see (yes, even more sizeable than James’ giant peach!), candle in hand and staring skyward towards the distant moon, as we take our first look at the much sought after contemporary fine artist, Mackenzie Thorpe’s very latest Autumn 2016 pictorial reveal witnessed right here, right now. Entitled, ‘Light of my Life’, this sublimely crafted giclee mounted limited edition piece extends the award-winning Thorpe’s ever-present drive which compelled him from an early age. Essentially that overriding need to commit his thoughts to a blank canvas, be the canvas and raw materials be whatever he could get his hands on at the time. Indeed, as a child Thorpe would seek out cigarette packs on which he’d inscribe rudimentary images with stubs of pencils, or alternatively recruit eye-shadow and lipstick, illicitly obtained from his mum’s makeup bag. We’re pleased to report that Autumn 2016 sees Thorpe follow a more conventional path to achieve his finished illustrative effect, and for those of you looking to let some welcome light into your lives, now affords you the perfect window of opportunity.
