Speaking candidly about the loss of his father to Alzheimer’s, the acclaimed contemporary figurative artist, Mackenzie Thorpe spoke of a man he had at times (during childhood) feared at times, yet had loved and respected dearly. And that he now missed that man, describing how he’d ‘lost his protection’. Also paraphrasing Thorpe speaking at that time, the best-selling art exponent said; “I was supposed to follow in his footsteps but I didn’t feel I was good enough to do that.” His brand new Autumn 2016 sculpture release is entitled just that, ‘In His footsteps’ and following on from the original 2D version which went before it visually charts a young boy tracking an older man, clutching and offering a heart in his hand. Poignant, emotive and unmistakably Thorpe, this very latest 22” x 13” sculpted version of events is now available to enquire about, whilst limited edition stocks of just 195 examples last.
