This very latest Simon Claridge, diamond-dusted silkscreen on paper limited edition graphically features the uber famous face of a certain Brigitte Bardot; arguably one of the most photographed women of the 20th Century, if you include the late Princess Diana, Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn amongst such glittering photogenic company. The precise moment captured is that of Bardot attending the movie premiere of ‘Shalako’, which took place in Munich back in 1968, and which is regarded as one of her earliest paparazzi flash shots. Continually blurring the lines between accepted reality and a more fantastical world, the acclaimed contemporary figurative art practitioner, Claridge has again visually cemented the female form in all of its splendour and so achieved what he set out to pictorially accomplish. Released as part of his much-anticipated 4-piece Autumn 2016 mini-series of limited edition studies, like the others this hand-signed and embellished 20” x 26” iteration has been liberally sprinkled with the artist’s signature diamond dust, to add even more compositional kudos to its overall appeal.
