Mark Spain studied technical graphics at Medway College of Art prior to setting up a printmaking studio in Kent, where he tasked himself with the production of original etchings. In the intervening years the now hugely successful contemporary figurative art exponent has spent passages of time getting to illustrative grips with both the genres of landscape and abstract before settling on his current and default figurative compositional setting. Fresh for Spring 2017, the award-winning Spain has returned with his brand new series of hand-embellished and signed board only canvases, from which this 18” x 22” limited edition has been lifted. Entitled ‘Carprice’, viewers are visually treated to the graphic onset of a pink dress-clad lady (glamorous ruffles and all) dancing to a very different tune; and more specifically one of her own making and free will.
