Difficult to imagine that the respected contemporary fine artist who’s a dab hand at digitally-enhancing and creating photo-realistic images avoided iMacs like the proverbial plague while an art student; and at the advent of the Apple’s mapping out the future of graphic design for all intents and purpose. Only that’s precisely what Mark Davies did, as he struggled to appreciate how a machine could truly translate his style and thinking onto screen. Still, after going on to become the co-founder of a graphic design business, the (now) in-demand art exponent was left with little choice other than to – and as he himself phrases it – ‘Locking myself in a room and learning what this brightly coloured plastic and glass kit could do’. Which he did, and the rest as they say is history. And of course all this graphic jiggery-pokery led Davies/and us to where we find the accomplished practitioner as of today. Or to be more precise, Spring 2017. ‘Pinocchio’ represents the best-selling Davies’ brand new giclee mounted limited edition (run of 45, hand-signed examples), which can be enquired about with immediate effect, via the usual channels of communication.
