Richard Rowan’s is an interesting story, or rather journey, from aspiring fine artist at school through to winning a national newspaper’s ‘Artist of the Year’ award in 1992; culminating in his ascendency to much-admired and collected contemporary landscape art exponent today. Interspersed with a career juxtaposition with motorsports; an opportunity which gave him the opportunity to travel the world and gain much artistic inspiration during said sojourns. As of autumn 2017, the critically acclaimed Rowan finds himself back in the glare of the contemporary landscape spotlight, courtesy of his new portfolio of silkscreen on glass limited editions. Notably ‘Magic at Midnight’ stands out of an otherwise equally as stand-out mini-series; probably illustratively aided and abetted by the graphic prominence afforded to a healthy visual dose of the Aurora Borealis. Or the Northern Lights to the rest of us who are less science and geography inclined. Restricted to just 150 Rowan-monikered 38” x 24” painted glass iterations this season, we’re anticipating a frenzy of interest now that it has literally (and physically) been put out there.
