Described equally as both a bicycle kick and scissor kick due to its unique motion and player/ball trajectory, there’s no arguing that whatever it’s referred to, it’s a trick shot to marvel and a physical feat to admire.
One such exponent of the perfectly executed ‘Bicycle Kick’ was Brazilian football legend, Pele. In recent history the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Fernando Torres, Wayne Rooney and Dimitar Berbatov have all performed perfect 10s for their bicycle kicks, yet the most reproduced image, historically is of Pele committing the gravity-defying move, mid-action.
The monotone capture of him, a good four feet off the ground, body horizontal to it, is an incredibly celebrated image, and one which has been recreated in giclee and presented here as a signed and numbered limited edition composition.
