Born: Donetsk, Ukraine

Andrei Protsouk entered the world in the industrial heart of Donetsk in 1961, where the clang of factories stirred a young imagination far removed from their grit. From his earliest days, creativity coursed through him; at just six years old, he moulded a striking clay tableau of an Indian and a cowboy, a whimsical prelude to adventures yet to unfold across distant horizons.

Guided by parents attuned to his gifts—his father a skilled photographer, his mother a virtuoso of embroidery and calligraphy—Andrei honed his vision at the esteemed Lugansk School of Fine Art, then pursued a master's at the illustrious Ilya Repin Leningrad Institute. There, under the wing of the legendary Evsey Moiseenko, a contemporary of titans like Picasso and Chagall, he absorbed profound lessons in form and feeling, graduating at the pinnacle with the coveted Lenin Student Stipend and Red Diploma in 1989.

In 1994, with family in tow and dreams alight, Protsouk crossed to the United States, trading shadowed Soviet canvases of muted tones for luminous explorations of love and life.
